science center NEMO
Queen Beatrix opened the Netherland's largest science center in 1997: newMetropolis. It took until 2000 then it was baptised NEMO. The building reminds of a tremendous boat. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. The French might know him for the Centre Pompidou in Paris. While the Germans became aquainted with his work he did on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
NEMO is build above the IJ Tunnel. It appears to be rising out of the water. Inside is a place full of things to discover. Find out, if you fit inside a soap bubble. Or ask the bigges humanoid robot of Europe, Elektra, how an e-mail gets to the other side of the planet.
In 2009 the Columbus Foyer on deck is redesigned. Liquid_Light Drop_2 und Drop_3 took pride of place.
