I am GUTTED by the latest change in the Next chino style. These 'ultimate' chinos have not only introduced a pointless button + hook style that is unnecessarily formal and overly feminine for what should be a neutral style of trouser, but they've changed the way the pocket is shaped so that on wider hips the pockets flap out and make you look like a circus ringmaster or matador. They've also reduced the pocket depth - I loved that for a few years there was at least one pair of trousers for women I could depend on to have PROPER depth pockets. There have been several changes to the Next chino cut over the years, and to the colours available, and over that time the fit and cut have shifted a little, but they've always been basically the same trouser. This latest shift is the nail in the coffin. I can no longer wear these trousers, which (in the older styles) I have literally a dozen pairs of and are the only trouser I wear. I've had to resort to scouring Ebay for second hand pairs of the older styles to stockpile for when my current pairs run out. Please, please, PLEASE return to one of the older styles - and ensure they're available in black and navy. The 'casual chino cotton taper' style is closer to the old style chinos (though they still have shallower pockets and are cut shorter), but they're only available in light colours.
